What is Financial Appraisal?

Financial appraisal is a method used to evaluate the viability of a proposed project by assessing the value of net cash flows that result from its implementation. Financial appraisals differ from economic appraisals in the scope of their investigation, the range of impacts analyzed and the methodology used.

What is torrefied charcoal (Technology)?

Torrefaction: Upgrading Biomass to "Green Coal"

Torrefaction is a thermal treatment process for biomass upgrading that occurs at a temperature range of 390 to 570 degrees Fahrenheit (200 to 300 degrees Celsius) at near atmospheric pressure, in the absence of oxygen, and at a reactor residence time of 10 to 30 minutes or longer.

What is TPD and its Full form?

The full form is Tonnes Per Day. For example, a stone crusher plant with a capacity of 100 TPD means that it can crush up to 100 tons or tonnes of stone material in a 24-hour period. Similarly, a plant with a capacity of 500 TPD can process up to 500 tons or tonnes of stone per day. 

What is MSW?

Municipal Solid Waste, Mixed incineration of municipal solid waste (MSW) in existing coal gangue power plants is a potentially high-efficiency and low-cost MSW disposal way. In this paper, the co-combustion and pollutants emission characteristic of MSW and coal gangue was investigated in a circulating fluidized bed (CFB) combustor.

What is CUF?

Capacity Utilization Factor. (CUF) shall mean the ratio of actual energy generated by an SPV project over the year to the equivalent energy output at its rated capacity over the yearly period. (CUF = actual annual energy generated from the plant in kWh / (installed plant capacity in kW * 365 *24).

What is Capex?

Capital expenditure or capital expense is the money an organization or corporate entity spends to buy, maintain, or improve its fixed assets, such as buildings, vehicles, equipment, or land.

What is Opex?

An operating expense is an ongoing cost for running a product, business, or system. Its counterpart, a capital expenditure, is the cost of developing or providing non-consumable parts for the product or system.

What is DPR?

The Dividend Payout Ratio (DPR) is the amount of dividends paid to shareholders in relation to the total amount of net income the company generates. In other words, the dividend payout ratio measures the percentage of net income that is distributed to shareholders in the form of dividends.

What is RFD?

Refuse-derived fuel (RDF) is a fuel produced from various types of waste such as municipal solid waste (MSW), industrial waste or commercial waste.

What is WAGR?

Windscale’s Advanced Gas-cooled Reactor (WAGR) was the prototype of a family of new nuclear reactors. Years after WAGR was first built, the unit has reached the end of its useful life and the reactor and its associated structures are to be dismantled and stored safely. This is one of the reactors built in the 1950s and 1960s which require safe decommissioning. There are an estimated 250 plants that will require decommissioning by 2010.
