Apple Cuts 600 Jobs Following Closure of Car and MicroLED Apple Watch Projects

Apple has officially acknowledged the termination of over 600 employees' positions following the discontinuation of its car and MicroLED Apple Watch projects. The tech giant is pivoting its attention towards generative AI initiatives. Reports surfaced in February detailing Apple's closure of its long-standing car project, which had been in development since 2014.

Employees involved in the project were either reassigned or let go. Shortly after, Apple also abandoned plans for the Apple Watch Ultra featuring a MicroLED display, resulting in further job cuts. Despite speculation, the company had not provided official confirmation of these layoffs until now. According to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman, Apple has finally confirmed the layoff of over 600 employees due to the discontinuation of its car and MicroLED Apple Watch projects.
