Forbes Unveils 2024 'World's Billionaires' List: Indian Representation Surges

In its latest release on Wednesday, Forbes showcased its 2024 'World's Billionaires' list, signaling a notable surge in the number of Indian billionaires. The roster now includes 25 debutants from India, contributing to a total of 200 individuals from the country, a significant leap from the 169 featured last year. Collectively, these Indian billionaires have amassed a staggering $954 billion, marking a remarkable 41% increase from the previous year's total wealth of $675 billion held by 169 billionaires.

Among the notable newcomers, Renuka Jagtiani stands out with a net worth of $4.8 billion, serving as both the chairperson and CEO of Landmark Group, a multinational consumer conglomerate headquartered in Dubai. Naresh Trehan, founder and chairman of the Medanta hospital chain, boasts a net worth of $1.4 billion.

Onkar Kanwar, chairman at Apollo Tyres, holds a net worth of $1.4 billion, while Kabir Mulchandani, proprietor of FIVE Holdings, a Dubai-based real estate firm known for its luxury party hotels and resorts, possesses a net worth of $2 billion.

The list also introduces a diverse range of newcomers representing various industries and endeavors, including Ajay Jaisinghani, Anil Gupta, Ramesh Kunhikannan, Mahaveer Prasad Taparia, Vijay Agarwal, Girdhari Jaisinghani, Motilal Oswal, Kalpana Parekh, Lalit Khaitan, Nikhil Merchant, Pradeep Rathod, Shivratan Taparia, Irfan Razack, Shashishekar Pandit, Subbamma Jasti, Noaman Razack, Rezwan Razack, Shivratan Agarwal, Ramesh Jaisinghani, Alpana Dangi, and Naresh Jain.

Meanwhile, Mukesh Ambani, chairman of Reliance Industries, maintains his position as India's wealthiest individual with a staggering net worth of $116 billion. Notably, Ambani became the first Asian to enter the esteemed $100-billion club and ranks ninth globally in terms of wealth.

Following closely, Gautam Adani secures the second position among Indian billionaires with a net worth of $84 billion, while Shiv Nadar holds the third spot with a net worth of $36.9 billion.
