Standing Tall: Support for UP Class 10th Topper Prachi Nigam Amid Trolling Over 'Facial Hair
"When Will Society Stop Judging Women Based on Appearance? Prachi Nigam's Triumph Amid Trolling Sparks Controversy"
Amid the announcement of Uttar Pradesh Madhyamik Shiksha Parishad results for classes 10th and 12th on April 20, the spotlight shone on Prachi Nigam, a student from Sitapur, who secured the top position in the class 10th results with an outstanding score of 98.50 percent, equivalent to 591 out of 600 marks.
However, instead of celebrating her remarkable achievement, attention turned to her appearance as images of her went viral. People began making derogatory comments about her features, shedding light on yet another disturbing aspect of our society.
Yet, in the face of online trolling, critics swiftly stepped in to defend Prachi in the most necessary and impactful manner. "The trolls don’t even consider the impact of their actions or who they are targeting. It’s appalling. I hope she never reads those comments; they could harm her confidence indefinitely. Hormonal imbalances can affect anyone at any time. We must refrain from mocking it," responded one user to a doctor's explanation suggesting Prachi might be dealing with PCOS and deserves empathy, not ridicule.
Then, another voice chimed in, "Prachi Nigam is the @Upboardexam24 topper. All those mocking her appearance probably barely passed their board exams, if at all. Adolescence is a challenging time. You go and conquer the world, Prachi, while these nameless individuals continue living their unfulfilled lives."
